Varun Shetty

Writer, storyteller, web journalist

Like most people in India, the first thing I fell in love with was cricket. I played it extensively at a decent level when I was younger. But like most people in India, I couldn’t make it. My first coach had told me never to give up on the game if I didn’t make it as a player. I took his word and took to cricket writing when I was 15. It led to a career doing what I like. However, like most people in India, I ended up with an engineering degree anyway.

Now, I work at ESPNcricinfo.
